The New Year's Day 2014 Men's Ba' initially followed the path of the Boys' game and moved into the mouth of Castle St after only 40 minutes of play. Unlike the day's earlier events, Doonie momentum continued to move the pack into the car park and from there over the wall into Tullock's yard and out onto the Back Road.
A few rallying periods of Uppie control was not enough to prevent a determined Doonie drive to the water, where a large crowd watched the final stages play out in an empty basin as Michael Cursiter was held aloft victorious shortly before 6pm.
